Looking Back:
The school year is off to a fantastic start, with students actively engaged in their classes and participating in field trips that enhance their learning experience.
We just wrapped up a fun and eventful Homecoming Week, which featured:
Theme dress-up days
A Buff Puff Volleyball game
A Powder Puff football game
Homecoming games assembly
A bonfire
A Homecoming parade to the elementary school, ending with a pep rally downtown
The Homecoming dance following the football game
Congratulations to Piper Chartier and Tayvion Kahbeah, our newly crowned Homecoming Queen and King!
The Varsity Volleyball team remains undefeated in Northeast Kansas League play, with only one league opponent left to play.
We currently have 151 students enrolled at Horton High School.
Looking Forward to October:
October 2: 25 juniors will attend Sabetha Manufacturing Days to explore career opportunities in Sabetha, KS.
October 9: 15 students will travel to Maur Hill in Atchison for the PSAT exam.
October 10: End of the first quarter.
October 11: No school – ½ in-service, ½ workday.
October 13: Regional Quad Volleyball seeding.
October 14: No school – Indigenous People’s Day/Columbus Day.
October 16-17: Parent/Teacher Conferences:
October 16: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
October 17: 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
No school October 17-18 for conferences.
October 21: Regional Quad Volleyball matches. The top two teams will advance to Sub-State.
October 22: Freshmen take the PreACT exam.
October 26: KSHSAA Regional Cross Country and Volleyball Sub-States.
October 29: Juniors take the WorkKeys test. This will count as a Post-Secondary Asset for students who score in the Gold or Silver categories.
It’s shaping up to be a busy and exciting month!
