Last night, the Board of Education approved a change in the current calendar year. The last day of school this year will be May 13, 2022.
As you know we are starting many projects for the bond: windows, HVAC, and updated security to name a few. While work on the HVAC is already underway at HES and EMS, other construction teams are ready to begin work as soon as staff and students are out of the buildings. Finishing the year early will allow additional time to finish the slate of projects.
A change in the calendar also allows our staff additional time for training. Staff will continue to work through May 24, 2022.
This has all been made possible, by the relatively mild winter weather. We have not had to have as many snow days - therefore allowing the district to maintain the 1,116 hours that are required by the Kansas State Department of Education.
