Greetings from USD 430!
I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 School Year! We are all looking forward to an exciting school year that will be filled with learning, adventure, excitement, and establishing lifelong relationships with others!
During the summer we have been busy with several construction projects! If you drove by any of the schools this summer you may have noticed new windows, new doors, some concrete work, new HVAC Systems, and other projects going on. I am eager to announce that the majority of the projects are nearing completion. We have had some delays due to weather and materials arriving on time but have been informed that the majority of the inside work that would have caused a disruption to the learning process will be completed prior to the first day of school. Throughout the next few months, you will however still see construction and work being finalized. For example, we are still waiting for a few windows to be delivered, the exterior restoration will need to be completed, waiting on a few pieces for the high school HVAC system, and will need to finish up some concrete work. As the construction continues I ask that you remain patient.
Our plans for the 2022-2023 school year are coming together, and we are excited for and very much looking forward to the first day of school on August 16, 2022, for all elementary students, 5th Grade, 7th Grade, Freshman and any new students that will be attending our district this year. On August 17th all grades will be in attendance! For information throughout the school year please make sure that you check the district website, follow us on Facebook, and download the USD 430 App on your mobile device. All these platforms are a great way to learn about the excitement happening in South Brown County!
If you missed out on the online enrollment no need to worry, enrollment will open back up on August 1. If you need assistance with the enrollment process please contact the board office or your child’s building.
In continued partnership with our students, staff, and families, we will continue to focus on several areas during this upcoming school year:
Safety and Security: Our number one priority each and every day is that students, staff, and visitors are safe at school. We will continuously review and modify our procedures and protocols as necessary to ensure that we maximize school safety and security.
Social and Emotional Supports: We know that establishing and strengthening our trusting relationships with students and families is a critical and foundational step to helping our students learn. We will continue to be mindful of and act upon the social and emotional needs of students, staff, and families. This year our elementary school will be implementing The Leader In Me Program while the Middle School and High School will be using Overcoming Obstacles.
Attendance and Engagement: We will continue to be committed to working closely with students and families, and we want our schools to continue to be places where students and staff have fun, thrive, and look forward to learning each day. Attendance is extremely important for the continued success and growth of all of our students. Please be mindful of our attendance policy when making appointments or planning trips.
Communication with Families: We enjoy sharing our successes with families and our communities. The majority of our communication will be done through our website at www.usd430.org or through Facebook and by downloading the USD 430 App. We want to hear from you as well regarding your thoughts about successes and challenges. We encourage community and parent involvement so please reach out or stop by the board office or your child’s building if you would like to visit.
Curriculum and Instruction: We will continue to plan fun and exciting instruction for each subject area using Kansas Standards. Working together as partners, we can absolutely minimize and/or eliminate any learning loss that may be impacting our students. Together we can assure that every child has the opportunity to learn and reach their full potential.
Evaluation of Learning: We will continue to gather reasonable amounts of data and information about your child through observations, questioning techniques, and discussions, along with more formal assessments or tests. Combined, this information will continue to tell us what your child knows and is able to do as well as how much they are growing and achieving.
On behalf of USD 430, we look forward to seeing you soon. Please continue to have a great summer and please let us know if there is anything that you need or if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jason Cline
