EMS Girls basketball team will play Saturday, December 10 for 5th place in the NEK tournament. They will play in the morning 10:15 am at Pleasant Ridge Middle School. No passes are accepted for the tournament. Go Chargers
EMS boys basketball begins Monday December 12 after school 3:30-5:15. The basketball Parent's Meeting will be at 5:30 in the cafeteria on Monday as well. Go Chargers
EMS: Reminder that our students will be going to the Nutcracker Ballet on Wednesday, December 14, at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. The students have been reminded they need to dress appropriately for this formal event: no hoodies, no holes in the jeans, no t shirts. The staff has also encouraged the students to tell Mrs. Lockwood or Mrs. Handley if they do not have the appropriate clothing so we can see what we have in our closet.
The High School Basketball Games at JCN tomorrow, Friday 12-9-22, have been postponed to a later date. We will inform everyone of the rescheduled date as soon as it is set.
HS Basketball Schedule at JCN Friday 12-9-22. All games will be in 1 Gym starting at 4:30. Order of games are as follows: JV Girls (1/2 Game), JV Boys, Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys. (Start times for the last 3 Games will be about 30 minutes earlier than normal)
EMS Boys Basketball Practice begins on Monday, December 12, after school. There will be a parent meeting in the cafeteria following practice at 5:30 pm.
Everest Middle School Student Council is once again holding a "Penny War". They will use the proceeds to purchase a book for every elementary student. The winning class will get to deliver the books.

Stuco and Horton Alumni are selling chances to win a Hooray Ranch Grill. The grill will be sitting in the commons during the basketball games. Tickets cost $100 each and we will be selling 100 of them. The grill is worth $6400. Contact Marla Hayden (haydenm@usd430.org) if you would like to purchase a ticket. The USD430 music is searching for sleigh bells. If you have a bunch of old sleigh bells in the corner of the barn or someplace else (they don't have to have the leather strap) and would like to donate them, we would be very appreciative! Even if they looked tarnished, we are still interested. Please contact Mr. Vittetoe at either Horton HS or Everest MS. Thanks!

Horton High School student Taylor Dvorak, clarinet, auditioned for and was selected to participate in the 2022 NE Kansas Music Educators Association Gold Band. The band rehearsed and performed at the NEKMEA District Mini-Convention on Saturday December 3rd at Seaman HS in Topeka. Great job!
Three Everest Middle School students were selected to participate in the 2022 NE Kansas Music Educators Association 7th/8th grade Honor Band. The band rehearsed and performed at the NEKMEA District Mini-Convention on Saturday December 3rd at Seaman HS in Topeka. Students from EMS (L to R) were Bobbi Becker - percussion, Ellah Stirton - french horn, and Shyanne Hutchinson - clarinet. Great job!
