On Thursday, October 28, the Everest Middle School 7/8th grade band had their first Meet the Composer day of the year. The band has been working on Of Courage and Valor for the annual EMS Veteran's Day assembly. Dr. Ed Huckeby, the composer of the piece, was gracious enough to connect with the students via a Zoom meeting that lasted about 40 minutes. The students performed the piece for him and then Dr. Huckeby answered questions that the students had submitted earlier in the week. He talked about his musical history, how he composed the piece, his favorite and least favorite instruments, and he encouraged the students to persevere in all areas they choose to pursue! Thank you Dr. Huckeby for meeting with our students! Great job band!
