On Friday, April 15th, representatives from USD #430 were asked to join in on the Spring KANAE (Kansas Association for Native American Education) meeting held at Kansas University. Discussion among other districts, tribal leaders, some Kansas Board of Education members and Commissioner Watson was held regarding ways to improve the Native American influence in the state's curriculum, ways to increase understanding and actions decided to help move forward together.
USD #430 was one of the districts that was able to share their current successes for students (such as JOM, NASA and the new Indigenous Studies class) and goals we have for the future.
Looking forward to more gatherings to work together!
