Earlier this week, KASB hosted Kansas School Board members for an advocacy day at the Kansas State House. South Brown County was represented by School Board President, Jason Selland and Superintendent, Dr. Rebecca Kramer.
Throughout the day, Mr. Selland and Dr. Kramer spoke with local representatives, including Sean Willcott, and connected to other board of education members from across the state about special education funding. Mr. Selland also had the opportunity to address the House K-12 Budget Committee.
We are thankful to have SBC representation at this event.

Last Saturday, students showcased their research projects at the Kansas History Day Contest in Lawrence KS at Bishop Seabury. They all worked very hard on their projects, and I am very proud of the courage they exhibited in presenting their work. It is difficult to talk about something a person just learned and researched. They were both excited and nervous as this was the first time doing a contest like this, for most.
This year's theme was "Rights and Responsibilities", their research was connected to the theme. We have worked very hard through the school year on these topics:
Media Rights and Responsibilities by Connor Wenger
Women Through Time by Veida Morrison, Peyton Steltenpohl, and Brooklyn Dvorak
Feminism in Action: Rights, Responsibilities, and Revolution by Abigail Jenkins and Makena Patterson
Divided by the Wall by Will Allen.
These projects were researched, created, and written in a new course at HHS, HGSS Research, taught by Bryan Hirsch.

HHS Baseball kicks off the season tonight with a Jamboree at McLouth.
