Today, USD 430 was visited by our new Kansas State Board of Education Representative, Danny Zeck. Mr. Zeck toured our buildings and met with administrators, board members, and teachers. He was also able to go into classrooms and visit with students.

FCCLA traveled to Topeka on Wednesday for district competition. The Chargers were well represented! Julia Lehew received Gold, Courtney Cline received Silver, Carley Hammersmith received Silver and are all State Bound. Carson Cline also received Silver. Way to go Chargers!!

On Tuesday, February 7th, the 7th and 8th grade choir, The Everest Elite, traveled to the campus of The University of St. Mary to participate in the NEKL Mass Choir! Students from our league gathered to sing together in a concert! Thank you to our host from Xavier for a fun day!

On Saturday, February 4th, Victoria Jelks competed at the Regional Piano Festival at Baker University. She received a rating of "I" which is the highest honor! She has qualified to compete at the State Piano Festival at Wichita State University on Saturday, February 18th!

The Horton Sophomore and Junior class Mattress Fundraiser is coming soon. On Saturday March 18th, there will be 25+ different styles of beds on display for customers to try. The beds are new, brand name, made to order, available in all sizes, and cost up to 50% less than suggested retail. In addition to beds, there will also be premium pillows, luxury sheets, and even adjustable power bases. Please share this information with family and friends! Six students from the Everest Middle School 6th grade band attended the Holton Honor Band on Saturday, February 4 2023. There were over 300 students in 4 bands participating in the event. The EMS students were in the blue band and worked all morning preparing 3 pieces for a concert in the afternoon. The attending students were Deja Beck-flute, Carlee Paden-bassoon, Tiffin Lanter-clarinet, Addy Lowe-clarinet, Chenoa Thomas-bass clarinet, and Noah Fassnacht-oboe. Great job representing USD 430!
